What is the name of your state? Oregon.

Does Child Support have jurisdiction over a Domiciled Citizen of 15 years?
Where you are a state Citizen and not: a "legal resident" of a State; a "citizen of the United States"; or a "U.S. citizen".

The only thing is that the child support was ordered in Califonia approx. 16 years ago for my husband to pay. The child is 18 now and he is still paying?

Thanks.

"U.S.", as defined by the Federal Government themselves, means ONLY Washington, D.C., Guam, Puerto Rico, etc. means they don't have JURISDICTION within the 50 States united.
No JURISDICTION means NO AUTHORITY OVER, NO CONNECTION, NO REAL POWER OVER, NO RIGHT TO STEAL YOUR MONEY! Income tax, Federal, State etc.

Not too many people know about the power of being a domiciled citizen, but the judges do.

I was just wondering about the child support that's all. Not expecting it to include that, but you don't know if you don't ask, right? We've paid up to his son's 18th birthday and they continue to want more. They won't tells us why or nothing. We would like to know if there's an end to this and when.
Thank you for at least responding. I love your honest answer.

My response:

Boy, I'm glad THAT was cleared up . . . NOT!

Look, if an order of child support was rendered in California, that support stops when the child is 18, or if the child is still in high school, then it stops at the earlier of:

1. Graduation from high school; or

2. Age 19.

Will they let us know when that happens? It's hard to keep paying blindly wondering what is going on. When we thought we were getting close to coming to his 18th birthday, they slapped a $14,000 on our balance with a few missed (late payments), and interest! What a SHOCK to spring that on us near the end. I do not trust them to be honest & fair with us.
How can we protect ourselves in a situation like this so that we're not taken advantage of?

Spring it on him? Surely he knew he had late/missed payments. Did he think there would be no consequences for it?

Aren't you being a little harsh not knowing the details of our situation exactly? We kept up with it the best we could in the hard times. We never missed a payment more than a week to a month and a 1/2 behind. But always paid it ASAP so we were always caught up.

Living from paycheck to paycheck is never easy and believe it or not, things do come up beyond our control.
And besides, the amount mentioned was mostly for interest, not missed payments!
Between $11,000 to $12,000 of it was for interest.

Not all guys are villains in a child support case. Sure, you play, you pay. But there are guys who do take responsiblity and do the best they can. And I'm proud of my husband for keeping up with his end. I'm just saying we don't want to be taken advantage of in a situation where if they wanted to, they could do that very easily.

It's a currupt world and being in a vunerable situation like this is not very comforting. They could at least let us know what is going on sometime with our case. At least we would feel we're not just a forgotten number wondering if they'll ever let us off the hook.

You do have a right to ask for a breakdown of their accounting to determine how their figures were arrived at. Especially if there has been no arrearage and only a months worth, here and there, of interest.

Just read how Michigan's CS computers, for example are totally messed up as they transtion into a new system. Many misbillings. Just because they, CSE, say it's so does NOT necessarily mean it is. We have a friend whose CS decree had CS until age 21. Period. Because the order preceeded the computer system they now use, no cut-off dates were ever in their system. He had moved and stopped paying at that time. NY CS computers kept the meter running over 10 years past age 21 in their system.

And they DID adjust almost $30,000 back out that was erroneously calculated as due from a period after the child had attained 21.

Unfortunately, that's NOT how it works. There are so many people in this system, that your husband IS just a number - and it was/is HIS responsibility to make sure that he's not getting overcharged, etc. Sorry you think that's harsh - but it's reality.

To Nextwife

To Nextwife: Now you know why I'm here looking for answers.
CS is not above making mistakes and I just wanted to hold them
accountable to treating us like human beings. Not to just be a number
lost in their system where they can easily forget and keep the meter running
like your friend.
With unemployment being so high, specially here in Oregon, every
little bit counts to make through the month. We just didn't want to pay more
than we have to because they are not doing their job. That's all.

I came here for helpful advice. Not to be judged or someone's
opinion on our situation. I thank you "Nextwife" and "I AM ALWAYS LIABLE"
for giving me some idea what our rights are and where to go from here.
Thank you very much!
