Driving alone with learners permit

I just find it odd that the driving age is 17 in NJ yet if I lived in Los Angeles a large city I could drive at 16.
How is a suburban area more dangerous then a city!

Having been a 16 year old male driver in the past, and having to drive on the same road with 16 year old male drivers now, I truly wish the age was higher.

ETA: Even here in CA, one must have an adult with them when driving with a learner's permit.

Yes, but you get your learners at 15 1/2 and your provisional at 16.

Its more than for my "convenience", some of my clients were already a bit skeptical of working with a minor.
It is very unprofessional to have your mom driving you to meetings.
The "law" is interrupting my ability to complete my business in a efficient and professional manor.

In theory, you could hire a licensed driver of appropriate age (college student, 21 or older) for minimum wage to sit in the passenger seat and be your social media liaison/appointment secretary/associate sales director/etc. while you drive to your appointments.

How many hours of travel/appointment time per week are you looking at? Does your business model support such a projected expense, at least until you receive your license?

See, here's the thing.

You do not have a protected right under the law to "complete your business in an efficient and professional manner". Or even to have a business at all.

You work within the law, or you don't work. If your "clients" are a bit concerned about working with a minor, too bad. You're just not that special that the law has to give way to you.

You're comparing one city to an entire state, which makes no sense.

These driving laws are state laws anyway.

It's unprofessional to show up on time, not sweaty and dirty from biking or walking?

How do they even know it's your mom? Are you telling them? Is she hovering? Or is it just that her car isn't fashionable enough? And just whose car would you be driving, if you had a license? And who would be paying the $$$$$ auto insurance?

Uber is always an option, too.

You have no sound legal reason to drive in the state of New Jersey.
