Yes, you'd rather be killed by someone who wasn't drinking at all. Then, the death couldn't be considered tragic in your eyes, would it? Sober drivers kill four times more people than people who drink one beer and drive.

What if the person drank one beer within a one hour period? Would that make him a potential killer - more than the person dialing a cell phone or the person who hadn't slept all night but still gets behind the wheel? One beer wouldn't put a 170 lb man over .02. It would take two beers in one hour to put him at .02 (according to your friends at MADD). The same as over-the-counter cough medicine.

So remember that the next time you or a loved one takes some cough medicine, you'll be more dangerous than the man who had ONE beer. ;)
Im rather not be killed you doofus. I think people driving with cell phones should be punished too.If you drink one beer in one hour and get behind the wheel and KILL someone then yes you are a killer  I dont take over the counter cough medicine, for that matter I dont take medicine....If I were sick I think I'd stay home anyway...

Here we go again.

Please provide a link to the study which provided those statistics.

I already have. You can find links to the studies here: https://forum.freeadvice.com/showthread.php?p=798573#post798573

Now please show me the studies that prove drunk drivers have killed more people than sober drivers. If you can prove that MADD's propaganda is in fact correct, you could win $20,000. It's been over a year and not one person has been able to prove the numbers.

Im rather not be killed you doofus.

Just me, or any other sober driver?

I think people driving with cell phones should be punished too. If you drink one beer in one hour and get behind the wheel and KILL someone then yes you are a killer.

You misunderstood my question. I asked if someone has one beer are they more of a potential killer than someone dialing a cell phone or driving drowsy?

I dont take over the counter cough medicine, for that matter I dont take medicine....If I were sick I think I'd stay home anyway...

Oh right! I don't believe that for a minute. You don't take any medicine.

But you never answered the question about drowsy drivers. Do you never drive unless you have a full eight hours of sleep and the moment you're feeling tired, you pull over and take a nap? In the whole state of Utah last year, 20 people were killed in drunken driving crashes. 60 were killed by drowsy drivers. 102 from excessive speed. Tell me, which drivers killed more people? The sober ones or the drunk ones?

You are (deliberately, in trying to skew the stats to support your argument) ignoring the fact that there are probably, what, 100x more sober drivers than drunks on the road? So pointing to a higher number of deaths from the sober drivers proves nothing, other than that there are more sober drivers than drunks.

How about adjusting those statistics to reflect a percentage share of each group?

You misunderstood my answer...THEY ARE ALL EQUALLY RESPONSIBLE! and as if its your business I am native american and no i do not take medications. No i do not drive if I am tired...I sleep at night. ;) Well there are obviously MORE sober than drunk..Are you a drunk driver who is trying to defend yourself? You need a life.

Don't get pissy towards me because the facts have been presented and you can't handle it. It's simple...the facts come from FARS. The same source that the NHTSA gets their numbers and it's what DUI laws a based upon. What part are you having a problem understanding, except perhaps you've been dooped by the system?

Skewing is what the NHTSA does. Ask the NHTSA how they can create DUI laws based upon those numbers. They claim that 41% all roadway fatalities are "alcohol-related", yet they don't tell the general public 50% those numbers include sober drivers. Why not write them and ask why aren't they creating laws based on all drivers and not just drunk drivers.

You accuse me of skewing numbers. Now show me where more drunk drivers kill over sober drivers. It's should be an easy challenge for YOU to answer. Do it - I dare you.

You misunderstood my answer...THEY ARE ALL EQUALLY RESPONSIBLE!

So should they be treated the same equally? Should a cell phone user while driving be given the same treatment as a drinking driver? Treated as committed a crime? Should a parent of a newborn be treated as a criminal for driving while fatigued, dazed and sleep deprived? After all, they are more dangerous than a person who drank one beer. Should everyone these people be subjected to the same treatment as DUI - treated like a ciminal?

Well there are obviously MORE sober than drunk

There are more sober than drunk killing. Even MADD's propaganda states more fatalities are cause by sober drivers.

Are you a drunk driver who is trying to defend yourself? You need a life.

No, I'm not. I do not drink and drive. However, I see how the DUI laws work in this country. You're not immune to those laws because you think drinking and driving is wrong. What you don't understand is how you could become a victim of DUI - as the accused.

The percentage of fatalities cause by drunks vs. sober drivers is wholely immaterial.

Driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance is dangerous and unnecessary. Can you honestly tell me that alcohol does not impair a person's ability to operate a motor vehicle safely? Then you have never seen a truly intoxicated driver.

Driving under the influence is entirely preventable. Therefore, no valid argument exists to say that DUI laws are unnecessary.

While I agree that other circumstances (such as fatigue, eating, cell phones, etc) while driving are also dangerous, that is not an argument against DUI laws. If anything, it may be an argument for stricter regulation of those activities.

However, I have seen plenty of people who partake in other activities while driving but drive safely. I haven't seen an intoxicated driver who drives safely.
