was a winner of DV 99 green card lottery. In December '98, I submitted I-485 and other
necessary paperwork to the INS and I received a work employment authorization and a social
security card in the following month. Prior to this, I was on a visitor visa, but I was told I needn't
renew my visa since I will be in pending status (re-adjustment of thereof, whatever). After that, I
have heard nothing for over a year, and my inquiries to the INS went unanswered. Finally, I have
received a reply from the INS only to find out that I was denied the adjustment of status (green
card) because I failed to maintain my visitor status (!) and I did not file an approvable visa petition
or application for labor certification with the Attorney General or Secretary of Labor. Instead, the
INS informed me, I filed an application with the Department of State,
therefore (!) no green card for me. I was never told to file any labor certification!? Ant isn't work
authorization permit enough? Is there anything I can do?

Thank you in advance for any replies.

Sorry for the crappy reply, but you need to consult an immigration attorney to sort this out..
