My mom is going to an assisted living fac. this month and then to a supportive living fac. next year. I went to a elder lawyer who said they could shelter some of her assets, for $6300.00. Is this too much? They have a 100% guarantee for medicaid qualification. But can they really shelter some of her money? Is it legal? I don't want her out $6300.00 and the rest of her savings. We live in Illinois.

I think you need to do some shopping around. I don't know where you are, but that is about ten times what old people get charged around here.

We need to know your state.

We live in Illinois. I was also wondering if any I could go to any elder lawyer and find out the same info about sheltering money. Are there really loop holes? The lawyer I went to see, seemed to insinuate that not all lawyers know these legal loopholes. Thank you

I am always skeptical of people who claim secret knowledge.

**A: are you saying that trust attorneys charge only $650 per case?
