My grandparents do not recieve SS benefits or Medicad. My understanding ia they have not worked enough hours. Of course they are on a limited income they dont quailify for assisants because they have assests in there name My grandmother has Alzheimers and its getting to the point where we need in home care. Can we transfer assets out of there name then get the help we need. I dont wont to see my grandparents sell everything they own or do I wont the state to get it. I am there only grandchild Im all they have We recently lost my mom from cancer. I am at the end of my rope help

If your grandparents did not work enough to have Social Security retirement benefits and do not receive state assistance, then they must pay for services they receive. Their assets are for their benefit and as such should be used to provide whatever care they need. The taxpayers should have no burden of providing care for individuals with personal resources with which to pay.

Their assets are not for your benefit; keep that in mind.

If you don't want the assets, why did you ask this:

They have assets which need to be used for their care. That's what the assets are to be used for.

You just continue to show that you feel that you are ENTITLED to inherit from your grandparents. Their assets are their assets, not yours, and not your cousins. The assets are to be used for their care. Have fun defending yourself from fraud charges when you try to break the law to get welfare for your grandparents when their assets could be (and should be) used for their care. You're greedy, and I hope your grandparents realize that you love their assets and not them.

You are not solving your problem of assisting your grandparents by arguing with the forum members. You have been informed that there are strict asset and income limits in order to qualify for government assistance with nursing or home care. Your grandparents may eventually have to liquidate assets to pay for their care if other family members do not want to provide it. That is fact and no one on this forum will advise you how to hide their assets in order to qualify for aid.

I suggest that you seek agencies in your grandparents' area that provide assistance based on your grandparents assets and ability to pay. Look at United Way agencies such as the Visiting Nurse Association, your local service or government agency that handles elder affairs, or the social worker at their health care agency; they will be able to refer you to the agencies that provide care. State websites generally provide information on the requirements and asset limits for medicaid qualification. I hope you are able to arrange appropriate assistance for your grandparents.

Standard answer: "We don't assist posters with 'spending down' as that is fraud which is a crime."

Do you kiss your grandparents with that potty-mouth?
