Elizabeth was instructed not to make any noise and no one would get hurt. Her younger sister was in the room and very well could have been hurt or abducted, also. Elizabeth remained quiet and thereby sacrificially left with her abductor rather than endanger her sister or the rest of her family.

I taught my children that if someone shows the intent of killing you, then yell, scream, try to get away; you have nothing to lose and hopefully it will save your life. If one of my children had left with an abductor rather than scream and endanger the other children, then I would be proud of my child even though I would have preferred the chance to run into the room and try to save my child.

The more I hear and read about this, the more I fear the American public and the American media are not satisfied that this child wasn't found in multiple pieces scattered throughout Utah. If the current trend continues, soon Elizabeth will be 'convicted' of orchestrating the entire thing and willing tormenting her family and the rest of America for 9 months.

I am appalled.

As for Laci Peterson, I believe her husband killed her, probably accidentally during an argument and then effectively sank her body in the lake, baby and all.

God help her if she shows up alive and well somewhere and deprives the media and it's adoring public of a murder scenario again.

My comments were about the media's fixation on the lack of physical damages to the child! That day's media had focused their comments and their public opinions polls on the child's guilt.

Certainly, something was amiss, but to blame a child--I felt this was wrong; and I felt it was wrong to show obvious disappointment that the child wasn't injured or killed.

I also felt it was wrong that the media kept talking about a lack of physical damage to the child and asking 'why do you think she wasn't harmed'.

Since there was no legal issue being discussed, I thought we were sharing our thoughts on the subject.

Anyone who is willing and able, please stop taking me so seriously! I am a person with regular feelings and regular emotions and capable of and interested in general converstation. I especially love the thought-provoking conversations on this forum. Maybe I need to post like I talk instead of like I write--then the grammarians would get me! (that's a joke, ok? ;) )

Not to worry, ellencee... I thought we were just spouting our opinions, too. Tho I'm still trying to figure out what compelled me to start this thread on the D, S, &V boards - must have been my disbelief that she was found alive!

I do think there are a lot of odd pieces in the puzzle that will perhaps really never be put completely together. Who knows - perhaps if she had tried to get away, she'd be dead. Instead, by the grace of all that's good, she's very much alive. Hopefully we can (as a society) allow her the chance to put the pieces of her life back together. And perhaps in the future she'll be able to help us understand better what happened, so that we can learn how to protect the rest of our children.
