What is the name of your state? PA

So what would I have to do or prove to become emancipated then?

In case you didn't read my other thread, I am 17 and in college. Thusly, I have graduated from high school. My social security income is taken by my mom each month to pay for rent and bills. I was pregnant in October but had a miscarriage. I work part-time at my college but am also trying to get another part-time job off campus. However, I pay for everything I need or want even now. Thanks for your help!

You'd need to be 100% self-supporting. That includes rent (for a place of your own w/o a roommate), food, transportation, clothing, educational expenses, entertainment, medical expenses, and so on. You would need your parent's consent, or a court order based on a compelling reason for a need to be emancipated. Frankly, getting pregnant at 17 isn't going to impress a judge.

I don't know how SS$ works - you may lose that income if you are legally emancipated.

I don't think PA has emancipation laws. I could be wrong but I'd bet on that it doesn't...

What is so bad in your household that at 17, in college, and apparantly doing good enough so that you haven't a need for money(basing this from your other thread), you can't wait a year to be seperated from your mother?

stealth2: the only reason I mentioned being pregnant is because I know in PA at least that it means I have the rights over my medical consent now.

Yeah. But then it is implying that you might be considering getting pregnant.

However, a judge will consider it a sign of IMmaturity on your part. Not what you want when you're trying to show a judge how mature and ready to be on your own you are.
