Here is the situation:
I have been living in a house in Hollywood for 1 year now, (I am subletting from another tenant who has been there for over two years)
Occasionally (about 3-4 times per year) we have parties or friends over and it gets somewhat noisy.
We have one neighbor in particular that loves to complain and call our landlord and the police.
This neighbor lives in a separate complex next door.
The landlord is threatening EVICTION if we are not able to stay quiet.
However this drastically effects our lifestyle and quality of living.
We can’t live in fear of being evicted because we’re living our life…

Here are my questions:
What is the law regarding complaints from this neighbor?
Can the landlord evict us for noise complaints?
Is it lawful for the neighbor (not even the same building) to be able to call our landlord?
What actions can we do to help end this situation without ruining our lifestyle of having occasional fun?
How can we combat this neighbor for being unreasonable?
What side is the Law on?

Thank you.

This neighbor lives in a separate complex next door. so she is bothered its that loud is it??The landlord is threatening EVICTION if we are not able to stay quiet. after giving proper notices... yup you are problem tenants... that is 4 times you have caused trouble on noise... whatever crap have you given them? hmmmHowever this drastically effects our lifestyle and quality of living. ooohhh poor babies
We can’t live in fear of being evicted because we’re living our life… then move to the hills and have parties where you can live it up and just bother the coyotes... jeesh
Here are my questions:
What is the law regarding complaints from this neighbor? Laws.. what do you mean?
Can the landlord evict us for noise complaints? Yup..
Is it lawful for the neighbor (not even the same building) to be able to call our landlord? Sure... why not... they can call anyone they want.. almost.. maybe not bin laden...
What actions can we do to help end this situation without ruining our lifestyle of having occasional fun? see above about joing the coyotes.
How can we combat this neighbor for being unreasonable? you are being unreasonable... but I don't think you will see it.
What side is the Law on? look up the noise ordinances... jeesh the police don't come for nothing... my god.. there isn't a right to party and bother people ordinance... nor disrupt your LL's or other neighbors lives... who knows how many people have complained... you don't seem to be very grown up so I bet they stay away from you anyway.
Thank you.

Undoubtably a harsh reponse but I held myself back... whoa it was hard...

Other people are trying to live their lives in the peace and quite of their home and legaly do not have to put up with your selfish mentality.

NOISE AND DISRUPTIVE ACTIVITIES: TENANT or his/her guests and invitees shall not disturb, annoy, endanger or inconvenience other tenants of the building, neighbors, the LANDLORD or his agents, or workmen nor violate any law, nor commit or permit waste or nuisance in or about the premises.

And you call the neighbor un-reasonable, what you need is a boot up your asss////////////

What is the law regarding complaints from this neighbor?
It is lawful for a person to call the police and/or the LL, if there is a disturbance of their peace.

Can the landlord evict us for noise complaints?
Yep ... especially if they can provide police reports and complaints from neighbors to prove their case.

Is it lawful for the neighbor (not even the same building) to be able to call our landlord?
Yes ... and guess what ... it really ticks off a LL when they start getting calls from neighboring complexes.

What actions can we do to help end this situation without ruining our lifestyle of having occasional fun?
Make sure that you live your lifestyle and have your fun at reasonable times with a noise level that does not bother others.

How can we combat this neighbor for being unreasonable?
Why must you combat with this neighbor? Keep it down and be reasonable!

What side is the Law on?
Surely you jest ...
