Eviction Hearing then continuance?

Hi all, My mother in law recently got POA over her mentally disabled uncles. They are trying to evict her deadbeat brother from one of thier properties. There is no lease, and he has paid no rent in 8 years (dont ask). they served them with a 60 day notice and court date was Monday

Judge then issued a 2 week continunace (sp?) Her lawyer told her he would probably issue another one at the next hearing. Is this common? why would this happen?

Likely since he may be considered a vulnerable adult by your states laws . There is a chance that the court may be bringing in a 3rd party to become his gaurdian or to establish a court ordered conservator to manage his money for him in the future so this cannot happen again . You will have to wait and see what happens with the next court hearing .

Well the previous POA, was the brothers mother (her stepmother). There are other issues as well, He has made improvements to the property though as far as we can see there was no agreement made, nothing in writing etc etc.
