I am in California.... Okay here goes - how do I get into these situations?? Don't answer that..... I was renting a room from someone who decided to move suddenly. The landlords were isck of him anyway - he was always late with the rent, and right when he moved gave him a 60 day notice. He lived in the house for over a year. I had problems with the roomate and wasn't sure he paid the rent, so I contacted the landlords and come to find out, the roomate was not supposed to rent the room to me.....it was a violation of his lease. I have a place to move, but it won't be ready for a week. They are telling me they are going to lock me out on Monday, that I have no right to be there, and they are going to get rid of all my stuff if it's there on Monday.....can they do this? I'm in a bind and am not trying to be a pain to them, but it's just a week....don't they legally have to evict me? Do I have squatters rights? This sounds crappy I know.....but I just need a few days, and this situation was out of my control..........please help. Thanks in advance....

**A: you are correct; L needs to legally evict you.

Thanks for your responses......I read up a lot on the California Housing Authority web site and thought I was reading correctly.

I have a glitch now - I hope I didn't screw myself......the landlord burst in this morning and was screaming at me......scared me and made me sign a paper saying I would be out by Wednesday...... is this legally binding? Probably..... arrgghh! I will never have another roomate!
