My ex is dying and has relative hiding kids from me

What is the name of your state?Ohio
I live in Kentucky and my ex in Ohio. We lived in Ohio when we were married. My ex and I share custody of my two children, but he has had physical custody for the past few years. He used to let me see them, but he hasn't sent them to visit because they wanted to stay with me. I haven't had money to get a lawyer so that I could make him let me see them. Now I find out that he is dying, and he has sent the kids to another state with his relatives. How can I get me children back?? I don't have money----but can the sheriff in Ohio help me or the county attorney?? I want my children. I have been told that they are in school---but only my ex and I have custody. How can this happen. What can I do.

Find out where your children are go to court and get an emergency custody hearing like right now! Let the judge know what is going on and be armed with proof.

Is ohio were the custody orders were set up? I would say that you could file where your at but I am not sure. I will leave that one up to the senior members. I most times you have to go to the court where the original orders took place.......except in some instances. Senior members? Help! I don't know if that pertains in the case of emergency custody orders.

do I need an attorney?? I really can't afford one. Can I just walk into the court and ask for an emergency hearing?? Will they have to send my kids back to me??

Have you tried legal aid? They may be able to help. I don't know about in your state but I know my parents filled out the proper paper work and next day had a hearing. Do you have any proof that this has happened? Do a search for your state and see if the forms you need are online. I will look also. As for what courts you will need to go through like I said I don't know that is why I am hoping a senior member will answer.

Screw the courts.

Go to the local police department where he is located and file charges against him under OHIO REV.CODE ANN.§2919.23 Interference with Custody.
