What is the name of your state? Tennessee
My OPT is expiring. My wife is on a F-1 student visa and she is Canadian. I`m German citizen. Can I get on her visa and obtain a work permit to support her with her school? Or how can I extend my work permit, change visa?
Please help.

Thanks

Tthe only way you can obtain a work permit is to have a job offer from a US employer who will be willing to sponsor you for a H-1B visa. Once that is approved, you will be able to work for the petitioning employer pursuant to that H-1B.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or if I may be of further assistance to you in this matter.

Because your wife is an F-1 you can request a change of status and become and F-2. However this will only allow you to remain in the US legally. You can not be employed as an F-2.

You could continue in a new program of study at a higher level and stay in F-1 and then pursue on campus employment.

Or as Lana points out, find an employer to sponsor you as an H-1B.
