I am a student on a F1-Visa in the US. I am a German citizen and I want to operate a business in Germany over the internet with customers and company base in Germany. Would I be allowed to do this from here and while I am here, or would this violate my F1-status.

I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.

Well, the situation is this. To be granted an F-1, you need to show sufficient funds. But you have limitations on employment. I believe the following paragraph applies to U.S. based employment (i.e. you get hired here by a company here). I would contact the INS customer service and ask them if this limitation would apply. Don't give your name/identifying information. I think you should be okay.

Employment

An F-1 student may not accept off-campus employment at any time during the first year of study; however, the INS may grant permission to accept off-campus employment after one year. F-1 students may accept on-campus employment from the school without INS permission. Except for temporary employment for practical training, an M-1 student may not accept employment.
