In february of 2000 I received two tickets (one for speeding and the other for driving in an HOV lane without a passanger). Needless to say that I had NO money to pay for the tickets and then when my court date came up I was out of town (I forgot about the court date). Now its October 2000 and I now have a new job and the ability to pay the tickets but when i call the automated system about my tickets it says that i have a
bench warrant out for my arrest. I want to pay my tickets and whatever fines I may have but I'm afraid that if I show up in person they'll haul me off to jail. How can i pay my tickets and avoid going to jail?

Usually yes, but it all depends on the state, county and circumstances. And do not delay. If they come after you, or you get stopped again, it will be MUCH worse. If you ar ereally worried, have someone else call and ask on your behalf, like a lawyer who can smooth the way.
