What is the name of your state? NY

How can a Child support charge end up on your credit report if
there was never a notice to go to court or anything in the Court files showing you were ordered to pay child support?
This is a false accusation, simply because of bitterness on the wife's part after separation. The Court files has nothing on this, and nothing was ever served for this type of order. Also, the children were always supported by the father.
These charges were supposedly filed in the state of NY court.
They have no record of this order for child support payments.
How can I clear my credit record of this?

Unless its a flat out error (ie, mistaken identity), its not a false accusation. State CS agencies are the ones who put child support arrearages on credit reports. Your wife/exwife doesn't have the power to put anything on your credit report on her own. You need to track it back to exactly who put it on there. You probably need an attorney.

been there

It's just like a credit company wrongfully reporting. Your guilty until you provuide the information to the reporting agencey that it's a false claim and want it removed. Then they will reply with who reported it to them and where to write to for that agency. Just reamber "everything in writiing" it's the only way to prove your stand. The system is to protect the child and the system preys on people like you who care and or do what is best for the child. Just rember it's in the best intrest of the child so the only thing is a verbal appology nothing more.. It's a bad sytem with a good heart, just clouded by spitfulnes and byass toward men. An uphill battle. I tell everybody about my experince, "I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy." It's so degrading to be branded as a deadbeat, even though you did everything you thought was right.. Good luck.. Check on how to clear your credit and take that angle if you are current and good standing with your state or court order.. Just rember be kind and don't jump threw the hoops. Instead be the one who puts the hoops up for the other one to jump threw P.S. make a case of harrsiment and everything that goes with it. every angle mental angwish evrything even depression I mean every angle its the only thing you can do to make it go away...

You challenge it with each credit reporting agency. You can do this on line. They have 30 days to respond just like any other creditor. If they do not respond it drops off but sometimes you have to force the credit agencies to follow that procedure (of course you keep copies of everything!). Also like any other creditor they are not immune to civil lawsuits for wrongly or falsely reporting. There could also be other remedies according to your state laws. They had Mr. KAT down for 26,000 several years after the judge ruled that the welfare benefits his ex obtained were by fraudulent means (he had custody) & dismissed the false arrears. Once they received the letter quoting federal & state laws they were tripping all over themselves to apologize.
