Southern California...
I want to file for divorce. My husband tells me that he will no longer be responsible for me or my finances. I have been an at home mom of three children for eight years, we live a very decent life as far as our homes, auto's, etc... Is there ANY chance that the court would not award me family support? He has already proceeded with taking half of our cash, and obligating me to pay MY portion of the bills? Is he aloud to do that before legal documents are signed? And if I pay the other half of the bills am I agreeing to HIS terms?

Lady, Ca. is community property state. Half of all community property is yours. Yes, he will have to pay for child support and possible alimony for some period of time. Whether he is allowed to do something or not is moot at this point-he already did it. Run to your attorney for court orders for interim support and restraining orders. Start collecting all you can find about credit cards, taxes, mortgages, car payments, pensions, checking accounts, etc. Get copies of all credit card bills to see what he may have charged for himself and maybe for girl-friend and paid for with community assets. Make lists of expenses you need to run the home, buy kids clothes, etc. Document everything.
Do not sit and cry. Get to work on this stuff.
