5k per month isn't much when it's FREE.

When you have to work your @ss off to get that money is when it becomes substantial.

We have 2 people in our household working their @$$es off and we don't bring home that much.

Of course that's partly because 25% of our salary goes to our retirement, so that we don't have to worry if our SS is only $1300 a month (at our age it wont even necessarily be there when we retire...)

Caution:

While it is commendable and very wise from a tax standpoint to save for your golden years; one has to wonder when the robinhoods will rob that money also to give to the people who don't feel they need to work and contribute.

The government and courts don't care how hard you have worked to get where you are today. They only care about the people who have screwed themselves up and need to be taken care of. People like you and I will get the tap on the shoulder to meet that need.
