I live in Austin, Texas.

I have been divorced since 1997, have been paying child support the whole time as ordered in my divorce decree. However, about a year and a half ago, my ex-wife was going through a second divorce and was having a tough time emotionally. I offered to keep my daughter full time, and she initially agreed, but then came back and said "how about half-time?"

So, for a year and a half I have been keeping her half-time (every other week), but still paying full child support. I've not questoned it as I didn't want to "rock the boat" and lose out on my extra time with my daughter. Our relationship has become such that she depends on me being here during the day (I'm self-employed and work at home as a free-lance graphic designer) and on many days when she is supposed to be at her mom's house, she calls and asks to come over here to play. So actually she's with me more than half-time.

My home-based business is having some tough times right now and I need to cut costs as much as possible. So my question is this: Is there any recourse to adjust the decree without the possibility that my ex-wife will be able to re-enforce it and thus make me lose the time with my daughter? I know my daughter would be greatly dissappointed if she couldn't be with me as much as she is now, but I don't feel it's right that I have to pay so much if I'm keeping her so much...

Thanks in advance for any advice...
