we currently have my boyfriends daughter from someone he wasnt married to for most of the time. the daughter has been taken by childrens services for unfit living conditions,but has since been sent back to the mother. the mother does let us have daughter most of the time,whenever we want her,but when we send her back...because she wont give us custody due to welfare. she doesnt want to go back.Her mother has at least 8 other adults living in the home at all times.the daughter sleeps in basically a closet area off the livingroom and at last drop off we counted 18 full size boxes of kripsy kremes that are day old deliveries to their home. daughter has continuos uti's and other health problems as mother smokes excessively. We cannot convince the mother to give daughter to us and we have called family services and hotlined her many times.Noone is doing anything. The daughter has said that mother hits hers in face and has left her home alone and currently daughter cut off all off her hair with the scissors because mother and the other adult present that day were sleeping and leaving this 4 yr old child unsupervised she had a gash in her head from the scissors.we are feeling hopeless and wondering what we can do...SOMEONE HELP US PLEASE..

my boyfriend has a 7 year old daughter whose mother is living in oklahoma and the daughter lives in arkansas but we live in missouri. The daughter is living with the grandparents. I heard that there was a law since they were never married that they have equal rights and he could just go pick up his duaghter and keep her and the mother would have to take him to court. The grandparents we have heard have power of attorney of child. She has not allowed visitation since the child was two because she has lied to child about who father is. Your boyfriend needs to get off his butt.

Why is it that these situations have been going on for years and you're the only person asking about how to change it?? He should have been filing paperwork years ago and taking these women to court to 1) protect these children, and 2) protect his rights. If he has established paternity, he is allowed to file motions, you know?
If the conditions are this bad, Mom really won't have a choice as to who is awarded custody. Has this case EVER gone in front of a judge??

With the first daughter...the one in arkansas..he has been trying to take her to court but because he has so much child support to pay for her he cant afford the attorney.weve tried legal aide but they keep telling us there is such a long wait for custody lawyers. weve applied and applied to no avail.Now with his second daughter the one who has such poor living conditions she was taken by foster care but when they took her away he was living in another state so they wouldnt award him the custody until he moved back to the state...Missouri... he did that and by that time they had already given the daughter back to the mother.he did everything he was supposed to do, the classes, etc. and the mother didnt do anything but clean her house and they gave her back. when he went to the court hearings the judge said that he always tries to reunite the mother and child.Now this whole thing is going on in Greene county where there has been much contreversy over the death of one child in foster care and a lot of other problems going on. We have he for example 20 days out of this month. so her mom only has her about one week out of the month.The problem is the mother is drawing welfare and child support for a child we are taking care of and they small amount of time she is with her mother has been damaging to her.She doesnt want to go back.The mother refuses to come to our house we always have to take her back and most of the time we do the mother is never there she always has some emergency.The mother and her boyfriend have jumped my boyfriend and physically attacked him in front of the child and police were called etc. but child still remembers and talks about incident.Could we just keep her and not take her back? what are our rights?

he has a daughter who lives in arkansas whose mother lives in oklahoma and the other daughter and her mother live in missouri where we live

Your BF really needs to get an attorney. He is dealing with two similar situations with two different mothers and children. How many children does he have out there? If both of these cases are not handled in the courts any number of things could happen. He really needs an attorney or at least to contact the social services departments where each child resided,. Remember if he has not paid child support that may play a role, this is not something he should do on his own.
