Fellow employee cussed me in group meeting . .

Recently, a fellow employee lost it when I said she wasn't being cooperative regarding a scheduled service between our respective groups. Cussed me roundly, using the F-word (as in F&$# You!), called me a ******* and a few other choice words. I did not respond in kind, yet I was reprimanded by both my supervisor and hers. Was made to sign a paper stating that another incident of this nature would result in my termination. I don't know what the other person was told. Do I have any rights in this matter NOT to be talked to in the fashion?

Of course you do! Write up a report about the incident and insist that it be kept in your personnel file, as well as in the other person's file. I cannot believe this company would continue to keep this employee on staff! Not only does this show this individual's immaturity and unwillingness to work as a team, it also paints a pretty bleak picture of your company's work ethics! Maybe you should think twice about remaining at such a place of business where respect is obviously not common practice among its staff. Good luck and it may not hurt to have a witness write down his/her version of the incident, also, to be placed in your files.
