What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? FL

I'd like to better understand personal jurisdiction in FL without consulting my attorneys and getting a $200 30-minute talk.

We have several state claims against a state agency that is headquartered primarily in one county that's in circuit court X's jurisdiction. However, because of the demographic's ties to this agency, I find it advantageous to change the venue or file initially in circuit court Y, whose jurisdictional area is adjacent to X's. Furthermore, my counsel is in Y. The drive between the two court houses is approximately 2-2.5 hours (if this even matters).

I've seen several similar cases that were the reciprocal of the above situation with similar claims against a similar state entity... but I'm not sure of why/how they obtained a venue outside of the HQ of the agency.

Venue is not personal jurisdiction is not subject matter jurisdiction.

Go to your state's civil procedure statutes for how to do a venue change. It is usually in the interests of justice to hear the case where it's easiest. Changing venue is not something granted with regularity.
