What is the name of your state? Florida....

I have a friend who has missed the court hearings regarding DWI ticket in Colorado... second one in two years. Now living in FL with no drivers licence...??? Can he get a Florida Drivers licence with valid pass port and SSAN or will they check Colorado or what to do?? IF he gets pulled over as an passenger and has bench warrant aginst him will he go to jail if his ID is checked (pass port with Florida address).

Thanks, R.

Fl License

I live in Florida, and if your "friend" goes to the Florida Department Division of Driver Licenses to apply for a license, I believe the clerk will discover the Colorado problem immediately. No license will be issued. I believe most states are coordinated with each other now via computers. But.... why would he get pulled over as a passenger? You lost me there.

bench warrant from CO...

Well okay... what I "meant" to say:

What IF the passenger has to produce ID in Florida, and has an outstanding bench warrant for failure to appear, in Colorado?? Would the local authorities have access to that info on a normal basis...

What IF he were driving and and gets caught with the above and no valid DL?

Tough

It seems to me that Florida is pretty tough on this issue. I read the paper cover to cover every day, and I have read MANY articles about people pulled over or involved in a minor accident. Yes Florida's computers are right in the cops' cruisers and yes they will access all states driver license information. The driver who chooses to drive on a suspended license will get an immediate free ride to county jail and the car will be impounded. I'd take the bus or taxi if I were your friend, or hitch rides.

Excuse me for being blunt, but my husband was hit by a jack@ss drunk driver in CO last night, so if it was up to me EVERY single moron who drinks and drives ANYWHERE should be locked up and NEVER given the PRIVILEDGE to drive again, even more so if they try to "run away" from their crime!!!!!

Sorry to "hear" about your husbands misfortune.... Maybe he should have been in a car too rather than walking in the road....

Where did I say he was WALKING??
He was in a car, not that it should matter, drunk drivers should keep their stupid @sses off EVERY road to begin with.

Um..... have you OR your husband ever operated a motor vehicle after a couple of drinks, even when neither of you were impaired? Be honest please.

When we go out, one of us stays sober to drive home. Why do I have to defend common decency of not drinking and driving? If you are for drunk drivers that is YOUR choice, I am against them, so let's leave it at that. I am not getting into a pissing match about our obvious difference in opinions about drunk drivers. We feel opposite about them and we both have a right to do so.
I hope you or your loved ones never get hit by a drunk driver.

No, I'm actually very terribly sorry for what happened to you. I'm grateful that I don't drink and drive at all anymore and never will. Not even one drink. I'm just wondering if you have ever in your life had a few drinks, and drove home even though you were not impaired; that's all. I admit that I have, but never when I was drunk. I always had a designated driver, that's just smart. But two or three drinks and then drive after eating well and so forth, yeah I did that a few times. Never again, but I can admit that I have in my past.
