What is the name of your state? nj i've read racer72 reply to arrest record in the arrest searches and warrants forum. My ? is this....I have been trying to get a certain persons' arrest record and my local police dept tells me that i am not entitled to this persons or any persons arrest record...they tell me that it is not public record. Is this true. Racer72 stated that they are public record, so i should have a right to them correct. So how do i go about getting the arrest record in my state legally????

And what reason did you give them for needing the information? The Freedom of Information Act does have limitations, not every yahoo off the street can ask someone's arrest record. If the agency does not feel you need the info, they do not have to give it too you. If you still want it, go to a judge and ask for a subpoena.
