What is the name of your state? Nevada - Clark County
Hello community. Thank you in advance for any help you have to offer. Through much personal research I have learned a fair amount of what I need to know but I am having trouble in one area. Let me give some back story ...
I have acquired a used vehicle with no title from a custom car shop. Nearly free, it's an older car (1980) that the owner planned to "pimp out" but never got around to. He's had it five years. I am currently not sure the exact details of how he attained the car but he has so far given me the impression that he purchased it through a private sale.
I have spoken with DMV and they have told me that in order to get a title and therefore register the car I need to get the district court to give a court order telling them to title it in my name as an abandoned vehicle.
I then spoke with the local district court and got further details. They state I need to appeal the court through petition stating the vehicle is abandoned. The fee to file this is $148, still putting the vehicle in bargain price range. They told me I could go to the law library's website and find sample petitions to use as a base for writing mine. I have searched their archives for hours with no luck.
I've now turned to google. I've searched 2 law forms websites, one free and one pay site, with absolutely no luck in finding a form for petitioning the district court to get an abandoned vehicle titled in my name. I even emailed the pay site's support email as they say to do if you can not find a form but they simply replied that the form is not available at this time but to check back frequently as they add new forms often.
What I'm hoping any one here might be able to help with is either pointing my in the direction of a sample petition of the sort I need or simply help me with writing this petition myself. I do not know what is needed to be stated or anything of the sort. Or any other general help on the subject would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all.
