My employer mistakingly deposited someone elses money into my account. I was not aware of this, now they want it back. Do I have to repay ? Mike in Toronto

Seems to me that a constructive answer dealing with my problem would be much more helpful than a curt off-the-cuff remark like that. Stick to the web, you'll never make it talking to humans face-to-face.

The answer to your question is that you do have to return that money to the employer. The guy (A Lawyer) was wrong as to the idea of "finder's keepers". In the U.S. if a person finds personal property (such as money) and there is no indication of who owns it, then the finder can keep it. This is a general common law which some states may have changed. OK?
