I have 2 children and there father and i have been apart for a long time. He rarely saw them until 2 summers ago.The first visit went great.Im not sure exactly what happened but he filed custody in the state he lived which is NY.The court only gave me 4 days to show up there for a hearing. He had so many (untrue)alligations against me that the department of social services did an investigation. The judge there didnt even ask me anything and the intake worker
never talked to me either. But infact for credible evidence against me.Noone will tell me what it was or by whom is was said.So the judge gave him custody, and had the case tranferred to Maine.I have been investigated by Maine social services and they found no credible evidence to support the aligations.Stiil its been 6 month since ive seen my children ,and im no closer then i was then.Everyone seems caring and helpful but i want my children. Can anyone help please.

What type of court proceedings are you in right now? Have you petitioned the courts in Maine for custody? Was ex given full perm custody? Or just temp? It would seem you could hire an attorney and petition the Maine courts for a hearing and show proof of no problems prior to the ex visiting.

I have started a case in maine 3 months ago.He was only awarded temp custody until the maine courts deside differant.I have an attorney but he doesnt seem to be doing much.Yesterday I saw my kids for the first time in 6 months it was great.even though theyve grown so much and changed so much .It didnt seem like weve been apart that long. Also I spoke to my ex for awhile after and he said he was moving back to maine in june.he also mentioned how much it has cost us in legal fees.He said if i new it was going to cost so much we could have just talked about it,(he didnt give me the chance before) He also has another child with his ex wife but he doesnt try to get custody of her.

If I were you I would make an appointment with the Attorney, ask him what has been happening in the three months since you filed and what paperwork, reports he has been provided so far. Keep after him/her, if you are not happy with the progress, tell him/her so, that person is working for you, you should be on top of everything that is happening..
