What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA
Greetings
I work in the medical field.
I've been in my current workplace for ten years. For the first eight years, I was NEVER a problem always courteous to my co-workers, boss, etc., and did my job to its pinnacle.(Still do.) Two years ago a group of three "friends" were hired and now I'm having to face being fired due to "reports" this group of people give my boss on a weekly basis. ( A recently fired ex-co-worker explained this to me.) One of these people from this group of friends is a bit of a kiss-ass. I have reason to believe that these people are trying to get me to leave to bring in another "friend". I'm being reprimanded for things that in the past were NEVER an issue and I see that others in the "group" often do the same thing and don't have anything said to them. (I know this for a fact as there are others outside of the group that "joke" about it.)
Harrasment?

Keep your work above standards, stay positive, and do not complain. Just do your job to the best of your ability, and start looking at other jobs.
Keep track of incidents, in a safe place away from work, and make sure any information on the computer email is professional and not personal.

harassment?

no.

I suggest sticking to the rules as precisely as possible and if in doubt, have management make the determination.

Harssment maybe. Illegal harassment probably not. Unless these people and your employer are behaving this way specifically and directly because of things like your race, gender, religion, age (only if you're over 40), and/or disability, then what you're experiencing is not illegal harassment.

Attempting to herd you out of the company so that another "friend" can be hired is not illegal.

Have you had a heart-to-heart with the boss about what's going on? If not, it sounds like you need to do so. Just be sure to remain calm, professional and address this from a business perspective.

And please, whatever you do, do not quit the job. This would be exactly what these people would like to see you do. Because if you are so miserable at the job, or so frustrated because your boss is believing untruths about your performance, or so afraid you will be fired that you quit, you will likely not be able to draw unemployment insurance while you look for another position.

The employer, if he is really on their side may say, "Well, if you think that I'm being unfair, you can just quit and leave right now!" But you don't want to quit, make this clear to him/her when you have a conversation about the issue with them. Stress that you have always done your best to do a good job, that you feel that lately there have been some issues concerning your work and that you want to do everything in your power to correct these problems and issues.

Don't go in attacking these other people or you may make the employer become defensive. Be political, work smart, if you can't correct the situation, if you can't get your employer's support, you will need to be looking for other employment, but if you are not just flatly ordered to leave, do not leave this job until you have another to go to.
