Hi- I'm a senior citizen who was treated unfairly by a contracter in 2001. Unfortunately the Judge was a previous contracter & I believe a friend . The contracter won the case & he placed a judgement against me. I heard from a lawyer or collection agency this spring demanding payment. Which I refuse to pay, due to the circumstances of the case, which would be a lengthly letter.. They have my Social Security number. I plan on returning to a part time job. What concerns me can they trace my employment through my SS number, or what other means do they have to find your place of employment.Thank you for your time.

> There are numerous ways to locate POE's, among other assets, and assure you that the judgment creditor will be looking for those assets to collect their money. It would be prudent of you to satisfy the judgment instanter as it will become far more costly to YOU (court costs, atty fees, and post-judgment interest) over time to ignore.

If I contacted the Attorney or Collection Agency, what percentage of the Judgement do they usually accept. I'm willing to pay the man for the service call, but not for the part. The part he sold me was rebuilt over 30 years old, & not new. I ended up replacing the item for a new. Thank you for your time.

comathon,
JC's typcially don't accept a reduced amount when they have been awarded a judgment. The "negotiating" is typically done in pre-litigation. You can certainly try to negotiate a pay-off amount to satisfy it, but I wouldn't be surprised if they want payment in full.
