Florida Question
Regarding wage garnishment I have read the sherriff gives you 20 days to work out voluntary payments, is that true or do they just start garnishing wages with no chance to work it out.

You probably have 20 days to appeal the execution of the judgment and that is typical. You can also file a motion with the court to pay the judgment in payments in lieu of wage garnishment, referred to as 'slow pay'.

If you are head of household, you can file an exemption to prevent wage garnishment in FL.

OH does not have the head of household exemption, but the option to ask for the 'slow pay' is available.

Ladynred,

Could you list what states allow the head of household exemption, or a site where we can look it up? I would hate to add and make this a long list of questions about states.
