What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Georgia.
I had a equity line that was paid and closed in 2004. I recently started refinance preceedings and find that the credit union never released the deed. It has been eight years, and now at my request are taking the steps to release my deed.

Now my question. Georgia Code 44-14-3 states that any security deed not released within 60 days, of payment in full, by the lender has to pay a $500.00 penalty to the grantor. My question, is who is the grantor? If that is me, how do I collect it?
