It's not. But I also don't think it's the BEST option for the child given the available choices. All I'm sayin.

And you don't really have any way of knowing that. OP could be the best potential father in the universe and the people planning to adopt the child could be slave-masters who are planning to sell the child into slavery.

There is absolutely no way to say that Dad adopting the child isn't the best option.

Dad can't adopt his own child.

Actually in some states when you do a step parental adoption, you do end up having to adopt your own child (I know because it happened to me ;) -A technicality of paperwork-and changing your name after marriage.

There is no way you know that for sure. Dad could be full of beans and disseminating false information on here.

Just as you are telling someone what they don't know for sure, please realize that you don't know for sure that dad is the best option.

I never said that it was the best option.

I was simply objecting to the people who said that having the child be given up for adoption is better than having the child in a single family home. That is true in some cases, but absolutely false in other cases. It depends on the circumstances and the individuals involved - and a blanket statement is not possible.
