What is the name of your state? Texas

"Your husband can give up all his parental rights and not have to pay the support. At least here in Texas that is how it works."

Is this a true statement!!! Please advise..

IFFFFFF a stepparent wants to adopt a child, the bioparent may be allowed to terminate their rights so the adoption may occur. That would eliminate any new support being due, but not necessarily remove any arrearage.

One cannot just DECIDE to terminate their rights to stop paying support.

If child support is dismissed and he never has to pay again, he is still responsible for arrearages.

Nextwife is correct. He cant just stop his support obligations. If step dad adopts the child, the bio parents parental right can be relinquished so that the adoption can occur. But arrearages still remain in effect until paid off.
