Crim. bkgrnd checks are scams

All those internet background check companies are scams. Their info. is nowhere near accurate.

I ran a check on myself and it said I was a black guy currently serving time in several different states (at the same time) for drug charges and that I've been selling drugs 4 years before I was even born.

They all have a dispute process and will take your word for it (although they will pretend they're going to actually investigate and double check, they don't have the resources, so they effectively just delete anything you deny as being yours).

Many of these companies are licensee's of another (wholesale) company that sells licenses so you can set up your own web site with your name on the site, but the reports are actually funneled from their website.

donald, please ignore slwslw. He appears to be the forum's latest troll, with a penchant for reviving old threads (although, admittedly, he was the first to answer your rather brief question, so I guess that counts for something).

Background check companies are governed by the same rules and procedures that the credit reporting agencies are. In order to correct errors that appear, you must follow the same dispute guidelines. A civil action against the background check company is possible if corrections are not made in a timely fashion.
