My niece will not be 17 until may 19. The other one turned 15 in October. Their mother lives in Ohio and their dad[My brother) moved 30 miles away after signing the girls over to our parents. I guess I need advise on whether or not I did the right thing by interfering. My brother would not take responsibility in their lives. He just got married to a 25 year old whom the girls do not like. He told them not to make him choose between them or her because he would pick her. he has attemped suicid twice. Been married three times and does not give them the emotional support that they need. Nor had he been taking care of their basic needs. They both needed school physicals and shots. He would not take them. His excuse was, the school will eventually forget about it. The oldest one is in band and vollyball. He would not pay for the band fees or the sport fees nor the things she needed to participate. This girl is so tired of having to say her dad will not pay.The other one is manic depressive, like both her parents, and he sais she does not need to be on medication. She has threatened suicide in the past. He now will not speak to us. The girls want to stay.
