What is the name of your state? New York. What laws are there that state weather or not your being harrased. How does a person decifer what is harassment and what is not, I have these god awlful neighbors. My house has gotten egged, their children have gotten into fist fights with my children. They ended up calling the police on my children and myself with trivial problems that. I was talking to my children at the bus-stop one monday after my house was egged. My children asked what is the neighbor girl was doing? I said to my children " the girl can egg our house but she to chicken to come to the bus-stop." With that, the neighbor girl heard me talking to my children, went home after school and said I had threatened her and called her a chicken to her face. That never happened. There have been other incidents of that nature where the kids go home tell their parent a lie. And the next thing you the police are at my door. Did I do something wrong I dont' know? Please help me I have no support system here.

oh, brother.

Move away, or just ignore them. You have NO business telling your children
" the girl can egg our house but she to chicken to come to the bus-stop."
By saying this, you are sinking to the level of your neighbors. No one is going to do anything about your trivial 'He said, She said' debates. Grow up. Sorry, but read over your post again, step outside the box, and think about how trivial you sound.

Try to get a no-contact order if it comes down to it.

Move away? That's not advice that's a cop out answer to someone who wanted advice. Can you pick up and move, change jobs? I think not.How long do you think you could ignore someone who defaces your property. Do you let them continue? NO. I am not the only one in my develpment who has the same problems, there are many of us. Yes, I do have the right to make an observation on a public street of some ones behavior and comment to my children about it weather they like it or not. It was not derogitory it was the truth. This not the only thing that has happened, this is the tip of the iceburg. Your wrong about no one is going to doing anything about trivial things. I don't know where you live but the police come every time their called. It is not I or the other people who do the calling we've tried stepping out of the box it has not worked. Many of us have tried. Things that you may constru as trivial may not be to others that have to live next to these people. Things that don't get addressed always esculate into bigger problems. I've come hear with a problem and the only thing you can say is grow up? Shame on you , sarcasm is not the way to help. Maybe you should grow up yourself. We are decent people who all work very hard at our careers and would like to come home to the enviroment we used to have. I have not sunk to their level. Retalliating would be sinking to their level .I tried to get legal advice. That is the more positive thing to do. The last sentence you wrote is the only thing worth listening too. Hope to here from you soon.

don't talk to her and/or any other neighbor; if you continue to receive property damage - get a surveillance camera. otherwise - ignore them.

Yes, I do have the right to make an observation on a public street of some ones behavior and comment to my children about it weather they like it or not. It was not derogitory it was the truth.

Derogatory [adj]: Disparaging

Disparage [v]: Belittle

Belittle [v]: To speak of as small or unimportant

Calling a small child a chicken to your own small children [rude]: Disparaging, derogatory, and can be classified as, belittling.

I don't know where you live

I live in RI, where we do not make fun of little kids. If we were to have a problem, it would be addressed at a sit down lunch with the parents and a mediator to find the root of the problem and work it out, as adults, without children present.

Ignore it, address it as an adult, or simply, get a protective order. Or, take the advice of poster 'berniebing' and invest in a surveillance camera.

I had the same problems a few years ago with the local white trash neighbors. After a trip to this forum (from which I got excellent advice) I took all of the documented incidents to the local police and CALMLY asked for their input. I then went to a lawyer and they drafted a letter sent RRR stating our position and they were not welcome on our property and that the police advised us to file a civil suit if another incident occurs. I then installed dummy cameras (since I was dealing with dummies) on the property and no more problems. But I see the way you have responded to n and and figure that being a New Yorker you will probably do something abrasive and foolish. Is it true New Yorkers have been known to eat their young?
