I live in SC, and one of my clients hasn't sent me a 1099 for services rendered in 2000. How long do they have to send me a 1099, and what happens if they never send one? Am I still obligated to report that $$, and do I have any recourse against the client?

Thanks for your help!!

Pick up the Telephone. Call them.
You should have gotten a 1099 already, but whether you do or not does *not* affect your obligation to report your income. You don't have business records ?

>>and do I have any recourse against the client?<<

Why,...do you want to sue 'em ?

Could I?

So, I still have to report that income. Ok. And, yes, I have records, but I want to be sure they are reporting the same thing as I am. Myself and the company ended on bad terms, so they might try to say they paid me more than they did.

Could I sue for the 1099, and will I ever know what they claimed they paid me?

I have no recourse then, except to just go on without it?

No you can't.

You have an obligation to report all of your income, whether or not some one else has sent an Informational Return to the IRS.
