when my daughter was 2, she got gum all over her hair, I had to cut it off and to make it look even, I had to cut ALOT.

my husband came home and wanted to know when I traded his daughter in for a son! neither one of us particualrly liked it, but neither one of us considered going to get a court order to keep my hands off her head either, NOT that that would have been a bad idea really.......;) :D

It was bad, lets just say it involved a LARGE chunk of gum chewed and spit out by her 9 year old brother,(GROSS) I did the peanut butter, it gave me gobs of bubble gum scented like peanut butter stuck to her hair... I tried freezing it off with an ice cube....I tried veg oil...after ALL that she got the haircut LOL

After trying peanut butter, mayonaise, vegetable oil, and ice to get gum of children's hair, I found the real answer (other than scissors)--WD40; works like a charm; stinks like hell; odor lasts through two shampoos but the chewing gum is gone!

SO what is the magic cure for getting a brush that is wrapped so tightly in long hair? My daughter likes to tangle her hair around a brush every time she gets her hands on one...
I end up having to pull chunks out, just to get the brush out, although, I could just leave the brush in?? That would be uncomfortable to lay on...
Just curious, that's all...LOL

It must be a round brush! As far as I know, cutting the hair or pulling it free from the brush, strand by strand, is the only way.
I can not use a round brush in my hair, which is long and curly, without my hair becoming tightly wrapped around the brush. It is a painful experience to have the hair freed from the brush.
I'd hate to be a child with my hair caught in a brush and I'd hate to be the parent trying to get the brush out!
Maybe only use half, or three-quarter round brushes? Store them under lock and key?
If anyone knows the answer to your question, I'd like to hear it, too!:)

hair cut

I know how you must feel. But on a different note, how would you feel if he didn`t care if he ever got a hair cut. That is what my daughter has to deal with. Or not getting them to brush their teeth or take showers. And they are teenagers!! her ex doesn`t teach any thing to them!! Sorry, but hair does grow back. Don`t sweat the small things.

no kidding?! and my granpa always said it was the miracle cure...(not unlike windex...)

I have no answer for the round brush other than commiserating with those who have done it to themselves too LOL

Easy on the WD-40! Keep in on the hair only--NOT the scalp. Anything that comes in contact with skin is absorbed into the body and WD-40 wouldn't do a kid good!

WOW!! I don't know which is sadder, FOUR pages of postings on a baby's hair cut, or me sitting here reading every one of them....LMAO

:D
