My friend doesn't go through CSE. They have their support agreement in the divorce papers and until now, it hasn't been a problem. Wouldn't putting "For Child Support" with the dates its supposed to cover be good enough to prove its paid?

That would probably be a good idea Janey. He paid his ex straight cash though before they started taking it out of his paycheck?? EEEEEK. Best way I've found, is send a postal money order. Not one from the 7-11. Any post office in the US will cash a postal money order, and that way, you also have receipts for it! :) (The money order receipt that can be traced) And the CP can't say they don't have a bank and can't cash it. Just take a trip to the local PO, and get your money.

In Ohio you don't have a choice, CSE takes over no matter what you want. I always forget some states don't do that. Is it only Ohio that dose that?

Update:

I thought you guys might like to know how this turned out.

My friend went and got a money order (took your advise MG and got a postal one) and sent it certified mail to his ex, to his ex's attorney (with a note stating that this would be brought to court if they chose to pursue it anyway) and to the clerk of courts (along with a message asking them to kindly put it in his file from his divorce and custody agreement).

First he got a call from the ex wanting to know what he sent. He refused to tell her. Then he got a call from her lawyer saying thank you for resolving the situation and that there would be no petition filed against him.

So, he had to give her extra money, but he managed to avoid court.;)

Janey24: If they're deducting the child support through an IDO, it will have no choice but to go through CSE (in GA). New law passed in July 1999 states all support payments by wage withholding have to go through the Family Support Registry. Mine was sent directly to me until CSE took over. It may take a while for them to catch it, but they will. Then he doesn't have to worry, they keep the records, and will supply him with a copy by request should she start the mess again.

Icollins, I don't know what an IDO is. My friend has arranged with payroll at his job to take his CS out every week and send it to his ex. They have never gone through CSE and still do not to my knowledge. It says on the check and the stubs, For Childsupport, with the week of course. This was done starting at the fourth week of his support, and this particular $400 was all that he had not had some sort of record for. He has stubs and records in the computer at his place of business for the rest. Its all been worked out now, but thanks.:)

Ah, I see. Thanks MG. That explains it. There is no IDO. The judge didn't say he had to do it that way, he just decided it was easier and made the arrangement himself in the payroll office.
