What is the name of your state?wisconsin
I recieved a collection notice from an agency on behalf of At&t,refused to pay was told by At&t rep that theey would send me my bills to validate the debt or for me to disprove it. This was in August never got anything. I got another collection notice, went to this site and found another site that explained the fair credit act and had a letter I could send to collectors to request validation and to cease phone calls. I did this they recieved it Nov.4,2004.I haven't heard anything. In the letter it says I am giving them 30 days to comply with my request if not to drop the collection and notify me in writing. Is that legal though do they have to follow through within 30 days or drop the collection? I requested validation twice, but only have the paper record for this last time how long can they make me wait for this? I am just getting tired and want to prove them wrong already. Thanks to anyone that can help

Actually its the FDCPA that controls 3rd party debt collectors and gives you the right to validation. Read Section 809 of the Act. ;)

FCRA governs credit reporting.

FCRA, FDCPA, BK laws, FACTA, case law, FTC opinon letters - I've been reading them all and I think they're all blending together at this point!
