What is the name of your state?nc

here goes: i have worked for my dad for 17 years, last year he incorporated the company, he is listed as president 100% ownership, me as vice president 0% and my mother as secretary/treasury 0%. 6 weeks ago my dad died from cancer after a 5 month painfull battle. during that time i ran the company soley and it was profitable. and as you can imagined the **** has hit the fan, last week my mother decided she wanted to come in and work i guess you could say"she has never ran the company or worked there". here is the kicker she wants me and my brother to become partners , he has worked with us off and own for about 4 years, we do not get along. so in the last week she has decided to hire my brother and she determined the salary which is basically what i make. the company is a custom carpet shop and is 90 percent hand labor. my dad only incoporated the company so that he could keep the building and property seperate from the company, and had told me that he was retiring soon, and told me i would pay for the building through a triple buy back lease? nothing was put on paper though:( do i have any recourse since i am vice president, am i president now? can i hire and fire? my mother has told me if i leave and start up another company like this one she would dis own me? can you believe that???????? iam pissed and hurt not a good combo, i feel like i have wasted 17 years of my life and dont want to have to start over again, ...................am i screwed or what?

Blood is thicker than water.
My opinion (not legal by any means) is that you should just accept it for what it is. Be thankful for what you get and stop being so greedy. I understand you worked hard to get the company to where it's at, but your mom was there all along, too, supporting your dad. Don't forget that.

I expect he's rolling over in his grave to read this...... :(

sound advice

kevinreece's opinion has to be the worse personal advice I've ever heard; "Stop being so greedy?" Unbelievable! My advice is this: Get tough and start over with a new carpet biz! Screw the family and whatever they do or think. You have to think of you. You are in charge of you're future, not mommy, not your brother. You have that much experience? I'd put it to work for yourself. I would not waste another moment on this family biz. Sometimes you have to examine the problem and cut and run. Go for it!
