What is the name of your state?AL

I've recently seen a doctor that I have seen on and off for years. He 'implied' during the last visit that he was going to call and speak with another physician of mine. I might add that the two have NOTHING to do with one another, regarding the health issues or prescribing for either. There are no dangerous overlaps whatsoever.

Since I have confided confidential information to doc #1 but did not want to go into it with doc#2 (it was none of either of their business really). Does Doctor #1 have the RIGHT according to the HIPPA laws to call and speak with Doc #2 WITHOUT MY PERMISSION?

I believe that this was done since for the first time Doctor #2's office called and said to come into the office 'he would like to speak to me'.

Finally I believe that this is allowed there IS NO SUCH THING AS PATIENT-DOCTOR CONFIDENTIALITY! (This had nothing to do with the old adage of a patient hurting themselves or others)

Please advise

In your other post you claimed to be a retired physician, here you sound lke another person are you sharing this moniker?

It depends on the circumstances and why you don't want both doctors to have access to your entire medical record?

It is NOT a HIPAA violation for 2 practitioners to go over information regarding a pt. when they both are involved in that pt care.
Example: I am caring for your back pain. I send you to a neurologist.
He then sends me a report with any pertinent information regarding procedures, findings, testing, etc that he performed. I then call him and say, "Hey Jim, are you telling me that she needs surgery, or do you think that she just needs Physical Therapy?"
No Violation.
