hours reduced

Well, the company does have a vacation/sick time policy. for full time and part time employees. They will not tell me the formula used to determine that now they are willing to pay me only 15 hours of vacation time? The also would not let me know what to expect for 2012 in the way of prorated paid time off.

the other administrative assistant- does not have exactly the same responsibilities as I do....she is responsible for NE

The owner lost many national accounts....and I am responsible for the new national accounts.

should I hire an attorney?

No. Why? The employer hasn't done anything illegal. You are not entitled by law to any paid time off benefits at all. They are not required to give you the formula; nor are they obligated, in July of 2011, to tell you what to expect in 2012. They may not even KNOW, in July of 2011, what they are planning to do in 2012.

If you are getting 15 hours of vacation time, that's 15 hours more than the law entitles you to.

As far as them treating the other admin asst. differently, it would not be worth pursuing, at least from where I'm standing. Usually EEOC age discrimination cases have to be across the board, as in all the older people who worked there had their hours reduced, none of the younger workers. They might excuse the differences in the treatment of you and this one particular co worker for a hundred different non-age related causes, including they thought she was more competent, she is their neice, they think she's more deserving, but as long as you can't definitively show it was because of your age that you were given reduced hours, it doesn't fly.
