I have a similar question

I am divorced (from am attorney). The divorce took place, and my former husband lives, in Washington State. I now live in Colorado. He has never paid me on the settlement of our divorce and I need to garnish his wages to get the money. All the collections agencies and attorneys want 30-40 percent, which is outrageous, they want fees up front as well, and I am broke since I have spent the last last year studying for licensure exams so that I can get a job! I am trying to figure out how to do it myself. Can anyone help us out?? Thanks!!

maybe this will help

your county should have a child support agency, which is through the dept of human services. I had to get them involved a few yrs ago when my ex started getting behind, etc. We finally got a wage assignment and it works as long as they work or you know where. I have a time with it, but as long as the case is open, when they file taxes they intercept it. Every yr for the past couple I get at least 700 or 800. They will take them to court, get wage assignments, pick them up, etc, you ought to look into it. It helps, but getting child support pmts is kind of like pulling teeth!
