I made a claim with my car insurance company to get my car repaired, and they wrote me a check to take to an autobody shop to get my repairs done. (Wen.Jan.12th) The man who assessed my car for the damages told me that it would take 3 to 4 days to order the parts and 3 days to repair. I then asked him, "what do I do about a car for the next week?" He told me to call my insurance company and see what they say. So I did, I don't have rental insurance on my policy so they said if I go to a particular rental service that they would give me their rate. Which is $37.00 per day, which I could not afford so a family member lent me the money. The man asked for my keys and said, "Ok thankyou and I will call you when it's done." We didn't sign any forms he just took the estimate and the keys. On the sixth day (Mon.Jan.17th) I called to speak with him and he told me that the order for the parts was in progress and that he would call me back. I returned back to the autobody shop that day to see what was going on and come to find out nobody has even touched the car of ordered anything at all. So I asked him what now. He acted like nothing and said, "Well I'm sorry but their must have some sort of misunderstanding if the car is drivable than why did you leave it?" I was under the impression that they needed the car there to fix it. So then I walked out of the office very upset and my boyfriend was there to talk to the man. He told my boyfriend to sign a form to goahead and keep on with the work. (form: Power of Attorney and authorization for repairs to vehicle and agreement to pay) They said that they will bring my car out and we can have it and when they get all the parts they will give us a call. The told my boyfriend to sign or they can not go through with the process. So he did and I took a look at the form it reads, "I warrent and represent that I have the authority to authority to autorize --- Inc. to repair the above described vehicle and to give the consent described herein if I am not the registered owner of the vehicle." My boyfriend has nothing to do with my insurace claim. So what can I do to get my loss of $225.00 for the car rental for nothing. The part for the car did not get ordered untill two days later on (Wed.Jan.19). ----8 days form the day I dropped it off?????
