What is the name of your state?PA
We moved over 2 years ago and when we signed up for our phone service through Verizon, we were able to pick a number we wanted from a list they presented us with online. Little did we know that this was, very recently, someone else's number.
I have gotten more calls for them than I can count. We have told people over and over that they no longer have this number, it has been ours for over 2 years and etc. Most companies, even the bill collectors have been nice about it and very understanding.
Of course, I am assuming that bill collectors are probably at least part of the reason they changed their number. (I recently found out from a utility company that while they still have service, they never gave them a new contact phone number!) Anyway, back to the current problem, the most recent phone calls are very annoying, a recording from such and such attorneys office regarding a personal business matter for Mrs. ******. I looked it up online and it is a collection agency but when I call the toll free number to try to tell them that this is no longer their number, they won't talk to me or listen to what I have to say citing privacy issues since I am not Mrs. ******.
Anyway to make these stop? Would a letter through the mail help? Any ideas?
We have spent the past several years cleaning our credit up and stopping our own collection calls, I sure don't want to deal with anyone elses.
