My fiances' birth certificate is a "copy of original" dated 4 years after his birth. The father listed is his moms second husband that I believe adopted him. How is this posible? His mom is the type to have something forged. She was married to his real father when he was born, why isn't his name on it? Can you change the fathers name leaglely? This takes place in Fl. Does adoption alow you to do this?

An adoption would change the father listed on the b/c to that of the new father. Forget the mother, just go to http://www.vitalrec.com/ find out where he can get actual copies of the b/c and order some.
