What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? ILLINOIS
Hi,
Back in September, a guy brought his motorcycle in for some bodywork, paint, and upgrades. The project was completed in late November, customer notified many times and invoices sent. He has not paid yet and refuses to do so. At this point we need to recoup the balance of his invoice, about $1,800. From what I gather from ILCS 770/50:
770 ILCS 50/ Labor and Storage Lien (Small Amount) Act
I can send him a certified letter and post an ad in the paper that sale will be made in 30 days. At that point I can obtain the title and make the sale.
Thought I understood everything, then I found this from the Secretary of State: http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/publications/pdf_publications/vsd526.pdf
I'm honestly confused as to the process and really don't want to mess anything up. Can anyone explain what steps I need to take?
THANKS!What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
