I need to file a mal-practice suit against a lawyer. Based on what I have described and what is contained in the file I received when I terminated them, I was told by a local lawyer that I had an excellent chance of successfully winning my suit. She did not want to take the case being local and referred me to several out of county lawyers that I will be contacting and interviewing in the next few weeks. However, she did mention something about how the file should be delivered to a source other than myself, since the lawyer to be sued could add information to the file later and just say I removed it. (the absence of this information is important to the success of my case)
What's the best way to get another copy of the file, and to whom should it go directly without tipping them off? When I terminated their services it was implied that it wouldn't be a good idea for me to do anything other than maybe arbitrate...What is the name of your state?
