What is the name of your state?

The hospital located in MI and I currently live in GA. My insurance company does not cover much of my medical bill and I have no income. The bill is HUGE...I have received a final notice from the hospital. They warn me to pay the bill immediately otherwise, they will go through the collection agency. (it looks like they will NOT use the third party collection agency.) If I cannot pay the bill, what's going to happen? The only asset I have is my car. Can they take it from me? I have a student visa now. Can they report it to the immigration and prevent me from getting a U.S. visa in the future? Is there any way I can get a help from the Medicaid? Please help me. Thank you so much.

My response:

Oh, great. Another foreigner sponging off the "system". And people wonder why I'm in favor of closing the borders of this country to keep out foreigners who have no stake in this country, and who can't pay their bills.

Looks like the taxpayers are gonna get it right up the ass again!!

See my posting on your question where you posted in debt collections.

I tend to agree though with IAAL - - - it pains me greatly that people who come to US can't bother to obtain citizenship and then want everything handed to them on a gold platter!!!!!!!!! :(

I remember, several years ago, there was this interview on TV with all these illegal immigrents, going to school on grants, etc HERE and then they had the f---ing nerve to bitch about the welfare system, etc........
Made me want to pick up the TV and chuck it out the window!!!!!!!!!!!!

Either LIVE here - become a citizen, LEARN to speak ENGLISH or go back to where you came from !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH

I could freaking scream right about now

JJun, The consequences for non-payment are dire. You incurred these bills when you utilized health services, and you are legally and morally responsible for payment of these bills. Ignoring the bill up to this point was a bad idea and cost you additional money in the form of late fees and interest. Continuing to ignore the bill is a worse idea.

The best thing for you to do now is to get a job and make payment arrangements with the hospital. (US citizens who get themselves in similar situations do the same all the time.) Contact the hospital's billing office to determine how to set up payment plans. Borrow the $ from your family if you cannot pay yourself.

The next thing to do is to obtain health insurance coverage so this doesn't happen again.
